Segregation
The South no longer had to disguise the fact that they separated blacks from white, they could now do it publicly and not have to worry about the legality of their actions. Blacks could no longer argue that segregation was against the law. They were denied their rights once again and would not get them back until many years later.
The South was quick to enforce the new ruling by separating the two races in almost every aspect of life.
"Segregation never brought anyone anything except trouble. If there is discord in a community, be it religious or racial, the most certain way of fomenting it is by saying, You remain on your side of the deadline and we will remain on ours."
